HOW IS THE COURSE STRUCTURED?

Aimed at absolute beginners in diving, Zero to Hero starts with the first level certification course, the PADI Open Water Diver course. This is followed by the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, EFR, and PADI Rescue Diver courses. These prerequisite courses and some fun diving in between take up the initial three weeks of the programme. By then, you will have gotten comfortable with the scuba gear which would allow you to start the PADI Divemaster training.

The DM training is a lot of fun and hard work too. You will typically start your day early with the rest of the dive professionals to know about the day-to-day functioning of a dive centre. You will shadow Instructors conducting various programs from refreshers to courses. You will learn to map and navigate through various dive sites in Havelock and also gather in-depth theoretical information about diving – physics and physiology – and the marine ecosystem. By the end of the training, you will not only be a skilled diver but also a knowledgeable one.

WHAT NEXT?

A PADI Divemaster is only the first step in the profession of recreational diving. After being a certified diver for at least 6 months, you can sign up for the IDC at Barefoot Scuba to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor – certainly one of the most coveted jobs in the world.
