OPTIONAL ONE-MONTH INTERNSHIP

Get a head start on your IDC with our internship program. One-month hands-on experience alongside instructors, assist courses, and get practical experience with teaching techniques. As a Divemaster, this will build confidence and prepare you to step into the IDC fully ready.

WHY THE ANDAMANS ARE IDEAL?

The Andaman Islands are a perfect destination for the IDC. Warm, calm, and clear water, shallow reefs, walls, and deep dive sites make them ideal to practice the art of teaching. Small groups ensure safety, fun, and practical training.

Reaching the Andamans is simple. The main entry point is Sri Vijayapuram/Port Blair Airport(IXZ) accessible via daily flights from major Indian cities. Once you land, ferries like Makruzz connect you to Havelock Island, home to Barefoot Scuba and some of the best dive sites.

Return on investment: Entry-level instructor pay in tropical regions often lets you recoup your IDC quickly. For many new instructors in tropical destinations, entry-level monthly pay often allows you to recoup your course investment quickly. As you gain experience and earn additional speciality instructor certifications, both your earning potential and benefits grow. We love seeing our trainees succeed. Barefoot Scuba graduates are actively considered for roles, offering a clear path from IDC to diving employment. Your training isn’t just an expense; it’s an investment in a job where your coworkers are fish and your meetings happen underwater.

CAREER PATHWAYS & CONTINUING EDUCATION

Completing your IDC is just a warm-up. The adventure really begins once you start teaching as a professional:

• Speciality Instructor Ratings: Want to teach more than the basics? Add specialities like Nitrox, Deep, Wreck, or Underwater Photography. Each new rating expands your expertise, makes you a more versatile instructor, and gives students more exciting reasons to choose you as their guide.

• Master Scuba Diver Trainer (MSDT): Ready to show off your underwater superpowers? Grab your MSDT recognition by certifying students and specialities. This recognition is more than a shiny sticker; it proves you’re a seasoned, trusted instructor who can steer advanced divers through any challenges, dodge curious turtles, survive reef chaos, and still look cool doing it.
